Marco Pietrek

Employment History

Marco Pietrek started his career in investment banking where he worked for over twelve years for, amongst others, Deutsche Bank AG, BNP Paribas, and Baring Brothers.  Based in London, Zurich, and Frankfurt, he executed numerous M&A mandates and associated financings for large multinational corporations, private equity funds, and ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWI).  Subsequently, he moved to the corporate side, working for Deutsche Börse AG and TÜV Rheinland AG for over ten years as Head of Corporate Development/M&A in both instances.  Furthermore, Mr Pietrek was responsible for all group-wide strategy and M&A activities.  During his tenure and under his guidance, sales increased by more than EUR1.5 billion.  As a principal, he acquired over 35 companies globally with an aggregated enterprise value of over EUR1 billion.

 

Most recently, Marco Pietrek has been advising start-up founders in commercialization of technology as well as funding-related topics.

Main Focuses

Mr Pietrek has over 20 years of both consulting and direct management experience.  He focuses on strategy development and implementation as well as Mergers & Acquisitions, including all activities related to the post-merger integration (PMI).  Moreover, issues related to financing and capital markets, especially with regard to equity, are another focus area.

Educational & Academic Background

Marco Pietrek holds a graduate degree in economics and finance (Dipl. -Kfm.) from the European Business School (EBS, now EBS Universität für Wirtschaft und Recht), Oestrich-Winkel, Germany.  As part of his career, he attended executive management programs at the Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne, Switzerland and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, UK.
